Overview
This qualification is suitable for learners aged 14 and above. The NCFE Functional Skills qualification in ICT at Level 2 is an ideal qualification for learners wishing to develop practical, transferable skills in ICT in order to work confidently, effectively and independently in life. It is suitable for a wide range of individuals and is fundamental to the successful completion of various wider qualifications and frameworks, such as the Diploma and Apprenticeships.
Modules
These qualifications consist of one mandatory component:
• component 1: Information and Communication Technology.
Entry Requirements
Assessment is the process of measuring a learner’s skill, knowledge and understanding against the standards set in a qualification. Each learner is required to undertake an externally set and assessed task-based question paper.
The paper will be split into 2 sections:
• In the first section the learner will fulfil requirements to use email and/or the internet
• In the second section, internet and email access will need to be closed down and learners will look at practical use and application of ICT.
Progressions
Learners who achieve these qualifications could progress to:
• NCFE Functional Skills qualification in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at Level 2.
• As the qualifications develop transferable skills which will be useful in work and life, learners could also progress onto a variety of NCFE qualifications in employability, money management or in vocational areas.
Certification
• The Reading and Writing components are assessed via 2 separate externally set and assessed task-based question papers. Candidates will be issued with a result of 'achieved', 'not yet achieved' or 'within 10%' for each of the assessments.
• The assessments are administered by centre staff under examination conditions and will both last for 1 hour. This includes candidate reading time.
• If the candidate achieves their external assessment(s) before NCFE receives notification of successful internal assessment, the external assessment result(s) will be banked until a full certificate is claimed.
The certificate is issued by the NCFE- Awarding Organisation. UK Versity Online Limited (Number 8465520) is an accredited and approved delivery Centre for qualifications.
